At Sector Alarm, we focus on making everyday life a little safer and smarter for our customers. Now, customers can add Smart plugs, both indoor and outdoor, directly through the Sector Alarm App.
That means lights, phone chargers, or even heaters can now follow the same logic as the alarm system. Our customers can decide when and how their home responds, like having hallway lights turn on when disarming the alarm or waking up to freshly brewed coffee before the day begins.

One of our main design goals was to make adding smart plugs not just easy, but enjoyable. Our design and app teams created a rich, animated setup experience that guides customers step-by-step through pairing and configuration. These animations aren’t just decorative, they provide real-time feedback on what’s happening behind the scenes, ensuring a smooth and frustration-free installation.
Each device, indoor or outdoor, has its own customized setup wizard, complete with visuals that make it clear how to install and use the plug.
Built on a reliable and future-ready foundation
Zigbee technology provides a robust and reliable mesh network, perfectly suited for smart homes. Unlike Wi-Fi, Zigbee offers stronger coverage and consistent performance even when multiple devices are connected across large indoor or outdoor areas.
Anticipating problems before our customers notice them
Even with an intuitive setup, we know that unexpected issues can occur. That’s why we implemented backend monitoring to track potential problems in the plug onboarding process.
By introducing the functionality gradually, through Alpha, Beta, and Pilot phases, our engineers were able to identify and correct edge cases before they reached customers.
Our real-time telemetry and event tracing now give us deep visibility into customer experience and network performance. This proactive approach ensures that we can discover and resolve issues before our customers ever encounter them, a key part of our commitment to delivering a seamless and reliable experience.
